Sewing School

Ready to get creative? Calling all Michigan youth who want to learn the art of sewing! Whether you’re interested in repairing your favorite clothes, creating fun projects, or learning a new skill, Sewing School is the perfect place to start.

About This Program

Through MI-Impact sewing school, accepted participants will receive a free beginner sewing kit complete with supplies, materials, books and access to an online learning curriculum. You’ll learn how to:

  • Sew basic stitches by hand
  • Mend and repair clothing
  • Sew on buttons
  • Follow simple sewing patterns
  • Create your own projects

Best of all you can learn at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. This program is completely FREE. There is no cost to apply or participate. Start your sewing journey today and discover what you can create!

Who Can Apply?

Applicants Must:

  • Be a Michigan Resident
  • Be Between the Ages of 6-14
  • Have a parent or guardian complete the application.

Priority consideration may be given to families with modest annual income

  • Parent/Guardian ready to complete the application
  • Photo of Michigan State ID
  • Youth Report Card or Alternate Supporting Document (see FAQ for options)
